Department of Massachusetts has just completed there 4th year of Jr. American Legion Baseball. It was originally started in District 8, with 2 teams. District 8 is now up to 14 teams and District 9 joined in 2008 with 9 teams, for a total of 23 teams.
The program is designed to teach young ballplayers the fundamentals of baseball to make them a better ballplayer for the High School and the Senior team in the area and it also creates loyalty to the Senior Program.
The program is designed for 17 and under to provide a learning atmosphere that they can grow with and move on to the Senior program, basically a feeder program to them, versus losing these young players to an adjacent team.
The program is designed to be affordable, instructional, Post recognition and provides young ballplayers plenty of opportunity to play.
